Brent Seales

Brent Seales is the Alumni Professor of Computer Science at the University of Kentucky, where he has been teaching and mentoring students since 1991. The focus of his research for the past 20 years has been on using advanced technology to restore and redeem cultural and historical artifacts from the ravages of time. The challenge of rescuing texts that may be central to Biblical scholarship and the formation of the ancient world is a primary passion.

Thibault Clérice

Thibault Clérice is Confirmed Researcher at the INRIA (Institut de Recherche en Sciences et Technologies du Numérique) and Head of the MA « Technologies Numériques Appliquées à l’Histoire » at the École Nationale des Chartes (Paris, France). His research focuses mainly on the automatic processing of ancient languages through deep learning, making available to corpora research in computational methods applied to the humanities.

Angelo Mario del Grosso

Angelo Mario Del Grosso has been a researcher at CNR-ILC since 2013. His research interests include Object-Oriented approaches for modeling Abstract Data Types (ADTs) characterizing the requirements of textual scholarship and the analysis, design and development of software components for linguistic and philological Web applications to process textual resource.

Robert Alessi

Robert Alessi is a statutory member of the UMR 8167 “Orient et Méditerranée” (team “Greek Medicine and Technical Literature”) at the CNRS. His work focuses on the editing of Greek and Arabic medical texts, the history of medicine, as well as the application of computer science to classical studies.

Federico Boschetti

Federico Boschetti has been a researcher at CNR-ILC since 2011. His primary research interests lie in the field of Digital Humanities, with a particular focus on Digital Philology. As a programmer, he designs and develops applications for linguistic and stylistic annotation, as well as tools to enhance the accuracy of digital text acquisition.

Valeria Vitale

Dr Valeria Vitale is a lecturer in Digital Humanities at the University of Sheffield, where she teaches Digital Cultural Heritage and Digital Methods. She specialises in the digital representation of historical places.

Prior to joining Sheffield, she was based at The Alan Turing Institute (working on the project Machines Reading Maps), The British Library (as Research Curator for the project Locating a National Collection), and the Institute of Classical Studies in London (as member of the Pelagios project).

Anca Dan

Anca Dan is Professor of Classics and a CNRS researcher at Université Paris Sciences & Lettres (École Normale Supérieure). Her research focuses on the history of geography, cartography, and ethnography, from Antiquity through their Medieval and Modern receptions.

To reconstruct ancient environments of sites that are poorly documented or unidentified in ancient sources, she has led geo-bio-archaeological projects in Italy, Turkey, Russia, and Romania, and currently co-directs international interdisciplinary projects in Greece and Turkey.

Her work seeks to advance understanding of how the Greeks perceived and engaged with both other cultures and the natural environments that shaped—and were shaped by—Classical civilization.
