In this workshop, you will explore how AI tools (Claude.AI) can support the encoding of texts on
Papyri.info, using the Herculaneum papyri as a case study. Through hands-on sessions, you will
learn how to work with Papyri.info, experiment with AI-assisted text extraction, and apply Leiden+
and EpiDoc TEI XML encoding to papyrological texts.
Workshop organized as part of the LACUNA project “Leveraging innovative Approaches to
Comprehensively UNderstand Ancient Epicurean Texts. Towards the First AI-Enhanced Editions of
Herculaneum Theological Papyri” (FIS-2023-01833). Registration closed on 4 April 2026.
